November

What happened to November?
We rolled out of October’s Halloween madness and blasted right through November with lots of giggles and mayhem! Some of my favorite highlights from November:

The Hot Mama’s Club
A fun filled evening with wonderful, beautiful, engaging women, sharing adventures, hopes, dreams, goals and ambitions. It was hilarious and enlightening. I love this group of women! I can’t wait for the next meeting!

Jeannie’s Wine Tasting and Medallion Exhibition
Jeannie’s party was AMAZING! I love Jeannie and the wild crazy positive energy that surrounds her. This sexy little spitfire has charisma to spare and she’s absolutely contagious! Jeannie put a new twist on the Exalted Beauty Medallion Party by turning it into a Wine Tasting event as well! It was so stylishly sophisticated! I would definitely recommend this concept as an option for my future Medallion Party hostesses. The three best wines won Medallions as the prize. Congratulations to Clara, Deb and Beth! I was most honored and grateful to have had the stunning and gracious Clara as my assistant for the evening. It’s kind of a big deal to set up shop and Clara truly was awesome! The party was so much fun! Jeannie’s guest list consisted of 30 of Plainfield’s finest! Many of the guests were mothers of Caden’s school friends and it was so incredible to see these fun fabulous beautiful ladies in a relaxed setting letting it all hang loose. A Huge Thank You to Jeannie and Clara! And to all of the extraordinary women who have been so supportive of the Exalted Beauty Medallions!

Thanksgiving
We had a marvelous, relaxing Thanksgiving at home; filled with all of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions and dishes.

In-between:

Hockey Hockey Hockey!
Hockey started in late October and has been happening 3-5 days a week ever since! Hockey not only happens at the rink, oh no, we have a hockey training center set up in the basement, hockey diagrams discussed before dinner and hockey training videos studied on weekends. Oh my! Have I mentioned I’m not exactly a fan of hockey?

And where’s the ART?
Well, instead of going right back to work on the Empress Medallion Collection as I had anticipated, I was completely side tracked when I was asked to design a logo for the Meriden Library (which we adore). How could I refuse? Caden and I are at the Meriden Library an average of 2 days a week! I was also invited to create a second piece for David’s House. The Library image is now complete and the David's House project is still a work in progress.

In the meantime, stay tuned, I’m going to share the Meriden Library image next!

Loon Reception

We attended the Opening Reception for the Loon Project at The Center in Eastman for David's House. Here are some (rather terrible as I was extremely distracted) photos from the event:

Charlie Taber did an amazing job with the loon displays; the artwork looked fantastic! The Opening Reception was very well attended, and greatly celebrated by a wonderful group of extremely happy, charitable people. I especially enjoyed meeting the other artists and seeing their fabulous loony works of art in person. We truly had a lovely time. Although, my cheeks are still burning from the chiding I received over the (85) hours I spent painting my loon.

Here is a closer look at "The Exalted Loon":

"The Exalted Loon" garnered a very generous bid and now happily resides in the home of a well respected local philanthropist. Overall, the Loon Project and Winter Fest Weekend at The Center in Eastman was a tremendous success, raising over $14,000 for David's House. I am both proud and honored to have participated in this very worthy cause.

I want to send out a humongous thank you to everyone who came to my Opening Reception this past Saturday night at AVA Gallery and Art Center! My heart swelled with joy at the sight of each and every one of your beautiful kind faces! I was truly overwhelmed by the enormous show of support from our wonderful friends and family. I cannot even express how much it means to me that so many of you were able to attend! I am eternally grateful to each and every one of you! And of course I also want to say a great big thank you to all of you who were able to stop by the show before and after the opening! Your calls, comments and e-mails are very much appreciated! You people totally rock!

Here are a few shots from the opening:

Jody was in charge of the camera for most of the evening and while he did take quite a few photos only two were not blurry! Oh well! It was a great time and I will remember it always!

Hare Obsession

Are you someone who becomes completely immersed in the object of their obsession?

Obviously I am. I’ve been thinking, dreaming and talking bunnies ever since last November. My studio walls are jam-packed with almost 200 hare studies and my head is swimming with hare research. And until recently, I was somewhat plagued with what I was supposed to *DO* with all of this Hare-Brained nonsense… The decision was made for me when, one day earlier this summer they just escaped from the studio out into my Wildflower Meadow! And so with the painting “House in the Meadow” the series Meadow Tales began. I will be introducing the first six Meadow Tales pieces at my upcoming “Wildflower Meadow” exhibition along with a wide selection of works from the Poppy series, The Garden Room series, The Night Garden series and the Floral Series.

I hope you will join us for “Wildflower Meadow”

Upcoming Exhibition

You are cordially invited to my upcoming solo exhibition:

“Wildflower Meadow”

The Wildflower Meadow Exhibition is a collection of art inspired by our land in Plainfield, New Hampshire. We have cultivated a diverse world of flora and fauna that is unlike any other I have experienced. It is a place where wildlife flourishes and Mother Nature reigns. Survival of the fittest applies to all that reside in our bit of paradise; each and every day brings forth new beauty and amazing discoveries to captivate the mind and soul and sets the imagination on fire. There is something very human about the countenance of a Wildflower; they convey the infinite power and strength of beauty while also alluding to life’s inevitable fragility. A universe of meaning can be discovered in a single blossom. One can contemplate the cycle of life, the simple splendor of nature’s bounty or the complexity of its color, structure and design. As an artist, I am fascinated by all of Mother Nature’s magnificent creations and feel blessed to experience such profound grace in my own Wildflower Meadow throughout the seasons. I am continually inspired by the world I helped to germinate and have attempted to express and share these thoughts, visions and emotions through my paintings and the Exalted Beauty Medallions.
