Mint-chocolate or just brown mints?

What you see is China Glaze's Re-fresh mint, some stickers for french manicures, a nice chocolate brown (aka #188) polish from Depend and a woman who's cross-eyed from reading too much.

Not too bad considering it was my first attempt, but the stickers left a lot of residue. It took scrubbing and a good night of sleep to get rid of it.
The nails are shorter than ever. They can't handle Orly's Bonder. Well, they can as Bonder makes polish last forever and then simply, be peeled off in chunks, but it also dries my nails completely. Like sun-dried cardboard.

She's got zombienails for zombiehands

First I'd like to apologize for the crappiness of these photos. They're taken with my old cellphone because I haven't been able to bring my Pentax. Add to that, on 2 different days but woth with dog and kid in tow.

Anyhow, I'd like to show you what happens when you take 3 layers of Ruby Slipper and add one layer of Electrick! (both Del Sol). I got tired of Ruby Slipper and when it started to chip, I added another color-changing polish to see if something weird would happen.
Nothing weird did happen, but I did manage to get zombie-nails in a certain light!

Indoors, it just looked like plain old silverfoil - clear with glitter plus a shimmery baby blue. Outdoors, albeit no full sun, the red from the Ruby slipper broke through the cold shimmer and it looked like a nice lilac/raspberry duochrome!
I can't wait to see what this looks like on a sunny day. These polishes may not be longlasting (they chip within a day) but mixing, blending and layering might make it a lot of fun.

I wasn't born with a lipliner in hand

One thing that I was thinking about more than once before I started this adventure, ie Rugby beauty, was
Do I really want my face out there?
It's not like I am hiding underneath a rock and sure, I have a picture on Facebook, Twitter, yada yada.....But, do I want my head on a blog about superficial things? About beauty? Do I want my appearance questioned and scrutinized by other women? My lack of skills turning me into an attachment to emails for all ages to come?

I know that to some, this sounds off, but remember that I am the nerd-girl, the outcast, the rocker that didn't really care all that much about what a girl should and shouldn't do. I wasn't born with a lipliner in hand. I still rarely wear lipstick because I want to be able to make out with my man without him getting a nice red up his nose.
Then again, that was the purpose of the blog - makeup-geekery and not makeup-snobbery. This is not a blog for the cool kids that want to be Nicole Richie, it's for the kids at the freaks-table.

These days, this kid wear a whole lot of aubergine. I guess goth hit my 20 years too late? Aubergine, purple and red for eyeliner, except most of the time I don't wear eyeliner but lipliner. Oh yes, I said a lip-thing on the eyes - It's easier to smudge and I can find it in the colors I want.
All smeared and smokey to my perfection.
Below is Bare Escentuals Lipliner in Wearable wine mixed with a Mexx lipliner in dark brown/aubergine (#04). On top of it all, a no-name offwhite eyeshadow to blend.

Zooming out (and not brightened for detail, my skin isn't that white), we get this which isn't at all very goth but quite.....soccermom with lipliner all over her head.

The clash of the polishes?

I just can't drop that whole nightmare-polish scenario that happened yesterday. When writing the post, I forgot to mention that that lovely blue polish not only stained my cuticles but also the topcoat I used to give it a matte finish. Seeing as the matte topcoat was the same brand as Blue jeans, ie Isadora, it can't be blamed on not following the ingredientlist and cheating with other brands.

On my 2nd attempt, I used no basecoat, just one layer of Blue jeans and then waited 4 hours until I put on Wet n Wild's glittercoat Sparked. Guess which polish stained the brush and tried to bleed into the clear polish? I had to clean the brush before putting it back into the bottle each time.
So, it's no coincidence, there's something off with the Isadora polish. It doesn't work well with it's own siblings, nor with strangers.

Speaking of which, am I the only one that remembers seeing posts about some polishes clashing with other brands top- and basecoats? That sometimes they crack, chip or just won't stick?
Other than the Manglaze-fenonomen, which I consider pretty cool as they embraze it.
