NOTD: Collection 2000 Hot Looks "Bongo Beat"

I am just back from a glorious mini-holiday in Grantown-on-Spey in the Cairngorm National Park; warm (23 degrees Celsius), humid and sunny! For once! I was there for the Big BioBuzz day and saw some amazing moths, hence my compadres here; the eyed Emperor Moth Saturnia pavionia, and my white friend Puss Moth Cerura vinula. Both are huge and very impressive!

Today's NOTD is one of the new Collection 2000 nail polishes for summer, "Bongo Beat". It's a mermaidish, blue/green duochrome, not unlike Orly's "It's up to blue", but more tropical green mixed in, which is hard to capture on camera. Absolutely lovely! This is 2 coats with Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat.

I will be trying to post more this week, I've been so busy lately!

Nice surprise

A couple of weeks ago I won a giveaway at Nails Etc. 5 polishes from british brands I have never tried before. One of those polishes were a grey from Collection 2000's Hot looks that didn't strike me as anything special. Great name, nice bottle but that was that. I have a lot of grey polishes, mostly, swedish brand Depend, so it wasn't the polish I tried first.

Last night, I felt grey and as I had to suit up for a meeting with the doctor, I decided that Wham! was just what I needed. It was a runny mess and 3 coats still left me somewhat disappointed.
However, this morning when I went outside, there was a NICE surprise:
the grey polish apparently had some blue undertones and matched my foggy blue (faux) leatherjacket perfectly! It's the same shade.

Adn, seeing as I am a sucker for giveaways - you get something brand new you probably never even thought of buying yourself, I have entered myself into another giveaway over at Nailstah, which is a rather new blog focusing on nails and nailpolish. If you want to enter yourself, you have until April the 12th!

NOTD: Collection 2000 Hot Looks "Wham"

I continue my foray into the my rediscovered stash of Collection 2000 Hot Looks nail polishes. I love these little guys!

"Wham" is a jelly, light concrete grey that's not chalky-looking. Being a jelly it will need more coats than a creme; this is 3 thin coats with Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat. I love this polish, it's so light but still grey! :) Not bad for £1.79!

New NOTD: Collection 2000 Hot Looks "Vixen"

Wow, I just love Collection 2000 :) My fave ever lipgloss is by them, Love your Lips in "Honeybunch". I think its RRP is £2.70 or something, and it's a gorgeous gold-shot coral that loves your lips while you love them, or something!

I've got loads of their Hot Looks nail polishes, including the red lovely "Big Hair", cool green "Ninja" and the minty "Button Moon".

Anyway this is the luscious "Vixen", a hot fuschia shot with pink glitter :) This is two fast drying coats with Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat. Ohhh I love these polishes! And super price too - at £1.80 odd you can treat yourself tomorrow lunchtime!

NOTD: Collection 2000 Hot Looks "Button Moon"

It's hard to try and find a new place to photograph my NOTDs. I will have to explore my options as my house progressively gets decorated! :)

So apologies for the poor photo quality of this lovely colour. It is a dupe to Barry M "Mint Green". It has some application issues like the other colours from the 80s inspired Hot Looks collection - stringy and almost a bit, eh, elastic?.. But I still love the whole collection! I think "Big Hair" is my fave so far :)

This is 2 coats over Sally Hansen Diamond Strength base coat and Sally Hansen Megashine top coat. Love it! Even got a matching pedi and mani today :)

NOTD: Collection 2000 Hot Looks "Big Hair"

I found a range of super-bright, Crayola type colours last week in Superdrug, and they all feel like the are inspired by the early to mid-80s somehow - the bright paintbox colours and names like "Big hair", "Dynasty" and "Button Moon". But maybe that's just me.

I have already showed you the lovely green that is "Ninja" and here is the equally bright and cheerful "Big Hair". It's got a sort of coral quality to it that doesn't come out in the photos. Just like "Ninja", "Big Hair" is tricky to apply as the brush is a bit rubbish, but I did get all 4 polishes for under £6...

It go on very opaque from the first coat but the brush makes it hard to make precise application. This is before cleanup and the cuticles are a bit flooded. It dries quickly. This is 2 coats over Nailtek II ridge filler and with Sally Hansen MegaShine.

Not bad - some seriously cool summer colours here and it's cheap so you can treat yourself :) I soaked off my fake nails as I wanted to apply other ones today but I might do them tomorrow instead for going to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on Tuesday :)

NOTD: Collection2000 "36 Ninja" and what I did today

This polish was one of two I picked up at Superdrug for a bargain of 2 for £2.99! They've put out a number of new bright colours for this brand this week. I love the names too, this one is "Ninja" and the lighter-but-nearly-dupe to Barry M "Mint Green" is called "Button Moon"!

Slightly thick but runny to put on (Big 3 Free, perhaps?) and the brush is stubby. Opaque in one coat but can look a bit streaky so best put on 2 coats. It dries fairly fast. Probably faster with thinner layers, but the brush makes it hard to make tidy work. This is with Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat. I did one coat "Ninja" and 1 coat of China Glaze "Paper Chasing" on my ring finger.
I also baked a huge and lovely rhubarb pie while I contemplated what polish to put on :)

NOTD: Collection 2000 Hot Looks "Juicy"

So I was feeling in an adventurous mood and did myself some full cover nails after my client left. I am just not happy with my nails right now, and was desperate for some length. If you are careful in applying full cover nails, they look really great with minimal damage to the natural nail underneath.

These nails turned out to be really good and you can usually find them on eBay or in the drugstores fairly cheap. Next time I might get the oval ones. These have been slightly trimmed shorter, but I think they need some work to become more squoval.

Collection 2000 Hot Looks is a speed-dry nail polish that come in a range of cool colours. This orange jelly has a lovely goldy shimmer to it. It truly deserves it's name! This is 2 coats and Poshe top coat. The formula applies really well. The bottle is small, only 8ml, but it sells for about £2.50. I have not seen this colour lately in the shops though, so I think it might be left overs from a collection last year.

I love the end result here, puts me in a very summery mood! :) Rockin'!
