NOTD: China Glaze "Wagon Trail"

Golden oldie here from China Glaze's autumn collection from a couple of years ago, I have actually never swatched this before!! Some call this an olive shimmer, I am not sure what to call it. It's not golden brown, nor a bronze... What I can tell you is that I have no colour like it!

This is 2 coats of "Wagon Trail" over Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle with Nail Shine Miracle top coat. This polish goes on smooth and perfect but I still managed to get some on my fingers...

My new nail combo if Nailgrowth Miracle and Nail Shine Miracle isn't as good as my Miracle Cure and MegaShine top coat, it takes a lot longer to dry. I am not so sure Nail Shine Miracle is shinier than MegaShine or lasts longer. Oh well! I've still not found other bottles so guess I just have to sit here and wait for it to dry!

EDIT: I've thought of what this looks like - shimmering humus-filled summer-time lake water...

NOTD: Rimmel 60sec "Starlet"

Just what I needed today, a sweet, shimmering pink! I am not sure if I already have this polish, in an older variety?.. It's lovely so if I do, it's not a problem :)

I am very much into knitting too in case you didn't know. I have started knitting more than usual as it really helps to chill out. But it's kind of hard on the hands; they are a right state at the moment but I am working on it. I am using tons of hand cream! If you have any tips on flake-free cuticles let me know...

As I've misplaced my usual Sally Hansen base and top coats in the move somewhere, I got replacement ones with my Boots Reward points today - Sally Hansen "Nailgrowth Miracle" treatment polish/base coat and Sally Hansen "Nail Shine Miracle". So far so good however I don't think "Nail Shine Miracle" top coat is as quick drying as MegaShine but it's not bad - I would say a good 5 mins is required for dent-proofing. These new Sally Hansens are very pricey - just about a quid shy of OPI Nail Envy and Seche Vite top coat at £9.45. That's a little more that I would normally pay for a so called drugstore brand. I will let you know the wear test results!

This is 3 coats of "Starlet" with a slick of Nail Shine Miracle. Lets see how this combo holds up to housework, plant collecting and knitting! :)

NOTD: Sally Hansen "Jumpin' Jade"

I originally put on CND "Blueblood" but I just can't stand how it looks black all the time. So I changed to the luscious emerald Sally Hansen Inst-Dri "Jumpin' Jade". This is 1 coat only! I decided to jazz it up a bit with a coat of Urban Decay "Cult" on my ring fingers. The brush for the Sally Hansen is flat and fans out like the brush for the new Rimmel LycraPro, but the formula is very runny and ended up flooding my small nails. I then had to battle with my camera to pick up the shimmer from "Jumpin' Jade".

Packing my flat up has started and has caused my already dry hands and cuticles to start self-cracking and the ectopic eczema is rampant :( Not impressed. No nail polish looks good on me right now... Guess it's a phase. I will try and put on some of my fave polishes during this week to pick myself up a bit :)

NOTD: SH Nail Prisms "Amber Ruby" over Nails Inc "Victoria"

I am still in awe over the Sally Hansen Nail Prisms "Amber Ruby". It is just so deliciously dark duochromey and firey. Like a burning sunset sky or autumn leaves... This is B/C then 2 coats of Nails Inc. "Victoria", a nearly black burgundy creme. Then 2 coats of Sally Hansen Nail Prisms "Amber Ruby" and Poshe T/C. It's really hard to capture the great duochrome in this polish but it goes from a deep burgundy to a amber glow in different lights.

Please excuse the tatty cuticles :( House hunting doesn't leave much time for advanced nail care...

Friday Whine :)

I have not had time to put nail polish on in the last couple of days, so my nails have got a mini-holiday! They are still a minging yellowish tone, despite me dabbling with whitening treatments. The peel on my middle finger on my right hand is still there, so I had to put some Sally Hansen Miracle Cure on it in a hurry this morning to stop it actually peeling off in one big flake :(

Speaking of which... Sally Hansen Miracle Cure doesn't work. I've used it for about 2 months now as a base coat but the two peeling fingers are still flaming peeling. I'm painfully aware how much I paid for this bottle in my desperation and I am now asking:

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY GOOD PRODUCTS THAT WORK FOR PEELING NAILS?

Its not all bad today tho - yesterday I won a bottle of Misa "Toxic Seduction" on eBay. It arrived this morning. Sweet service, no?? It looks awesome, I can't wait to try it :) Looking at it however I am thinking it looks a lot like China Glaze "Gussied up green". But when I compare them I am sure they will be so different I can justify having both! :)

NOTD - SH "Amber Ruby" over Rimmel "Sunset Bronze"

This is not my finger - I got my male best friend to model it for me as I am already rocking a glitzy silvery manicure of Rimmel "Your Majesty". That's why it looks a bit dented too - men aren't very good at drying their polish! This was two layers of Rimmel Sunset Bronze, which is a shimmery bronze auburn rust colour, and one layer of Amber Ruby. It has a really deep glow of maple leaves in the autumn in the crisp, cold sunshine :) Fantastic!

NOTD - Sally Hansen Nail Prisms "Amber Ruby"

I saw this on Rocketqueens blog, and I had to have it. It is a red-gold duochrome. It is as gorgeous on the nail as it is in the bottle. Rocketqueen managed better pics of it, hers were over OPI Midnight in Moscow, but this photo gives an indication of the autumn gold that is this colour just as it goes on the nail in two coats. I got so many positive comments for this polish - even from men! It seems everyone loves it, and rightly so. It is like a metallic autumnal maple leaf - firey and golden at the same time :) However, it doesn't apply very evenly and the wear is less than 3 days even with Seche Vite (the pic is after one day) , but it is a fantastic colour and well worth the hassle.

The pic shows 1 coat Seche Clear, 2 coats Amber Ruby and 1 coat Seche Vite. I will try it again next week over a Rimmel colour called Sunset Bronze which is a golden-sparkly dark chocolate polish.

Cataloging my nail polishes

I have finished painting my nail polish colour wheels. Now I just need to enter all the info into the database I have created and take photos of the wheels in sunlight to insert into the database :) I have not counted the colours I have but knowing my old total and adding on the recent purchases, I am 200 and counting :( Maybe I do have a problem.. I will post some photos once its all done :)

I am currently rocking a chrome silver manicure, with a tonne of Seche Vite to hold the nail polish. It is Sally Hansen Chrome Nail Makeup in Platinum Chrome, which dries almost instantly but is an absolute pain to apply :( It streaks and comes off the nail if you go over the same place twice. Patience is of course a virtue, and my goodness the end result is awesome!! :)

I have some exciting new mascara and eye shadow to review tomorrow night so check back Tuesday for those :)
