Do you still take a lot of decisions together?
Yes, but we're very different people. She's very free-spirited and wears her heart on her sleeve. I'm a little more internal.
Have those differences ever presented difficulties?
I guess when we were teenagers and finding our own identities. Mary-Kate was definitely the one who was more ready to do her own thing. She went horse-riding every day after work, she had her barn friends. I was the one holding on to the relationship.
Did you feel terrible rejection?
Not rejection. I just didn't really understand what was going on at the time. But now, it seems only natural; I was very maternal towards her. She'd always come back; there's never a complete separation between us.
