NOTD: Bloom "Kate"

First off I have to tell you about my Garra rufa, or Doctor Fish, pedicure! It was just as cool as I anticipated it to be when I saw this video! The little fishies nibble off bits of dead skin off your feet, leaving them smooth. The sensation is a bit weird, almost like little vibrations as they suck up the skin... They can't really tackle the rock-hard bits at your heel but they sure do good work getting in between your toes. However as it's expensive (£1/min, but we had a Groupon coupon) I'd probably only do it once for the novel experience.

So onto today's NOTD, "Kate". This pastel blue polish is what I wanted Barry M "Blueberry Icecream" to be... This is 2 perfect coats with MegaShine top coat. No streaks! Which is rare for a pastel polish. Gorgeous, I can't wait to try the mint green version (the name escapes me) I also got from Bloom :)

NOTD: Nails Inc Diet Coke Exclusive "Denim"

Sorry I've not been around lately, I came down with a stomach bug last Wednesday and I am still signed off sick as it has not improved... Very run down and waiting for test results to come back. Ugh... Anyway, onto today's story - when I went to Boots to get some more rehydration salts on Tuesday I spotted this years Diet Coke limited edition Nails Inc polishes, a free bottle with purchase of 2 Diet Coke 500ml! If you're quick you there may still be some polishes left!

I chose this one, but in hindsight I should've gone for the "Heather Grey", as they will probably be sold out by the time I get back there and "Denim" may be a little bit too close to the old, now discontinued Nails Inc "Hanover Square" of which I have 2 bottles... I will do some comparisons in daylight tomorrow.

This, I kid you not, is 1 coat with NO top coat. I am not joking. The formula on this is AMAZING!!! Just what I needed right now. That, and those juicy blueberries in the background. Now if I could only get my hands on "Heather Grey". I have a feeling it will be a lighter version of Essie "Angora Cardi", one of my top ten faves of all time. For the nostalgic of us, here is my top pick from the Diet Coke exclusives last year - "London".

inmensa: luz, calor, aroma, vida.

Sonriendo

la celeste hada amiga

prorrumpió: --¡Y bien! ¡Las flores!

Y las flores

estaban frescas, lindas,

empapadas de olor: la rosa virgen,

la blanca margarita,

la azucena gentil y las volúbiles

que cuelgan de la rama estremecida.

Y dije: --¡Más!...

El viento

arrastraba rumores, ecos, risas,

murmullos misteriosos, aleteos,

NOTD: China Glaze "Midnight Mission"

Hello! I have been so busy lately moving into my house, and I've not had polish on for over a week!! However, on Friday I bought this gem from the China Glaze fall 2010 collection "Vintage Vixen", and I had to put it on! However as I knew I had to clean the car tonight I decided to wait to put it on until that was done.. This is 2 perfect coats with a slick of MegaShine. Perfectly sparkly! :)

I am now faced with trying to get a nice new "spot" for my NOTDs... And I have somewhere mislaid my base and top coat, so I had to try and scrape out the last drops of MegaShine out of an old bottle.... I will try and post more regularly now that I am back in my house, although I still have to move my stash up :)

NOTD: Depend 193 + 195

I saw these and loved them in the bottle, but was dubious on how smoothly they would go on. But I was surprised! Amazingly brush-stroke free application, opaque in 2 thin coats and a lovely metallic lustre. I love Depend nail polishes, wish they were sold in Britain! I get mine from my dearest Mum! Thank you mum! :) This is 195 (blue) with 193 (pink).

I suppose I should have gone for a gold and blue manicure as it is the Swedish National Day today, but I honestly didn't remember! I went bowling today (atrocious scores!) and broke a nail so I needed something to cheer me up and this was definitly it! :)

NOTD: Collection 2000 Hot Looks "Bongo Beat"

I am just back from a glorious mini-holiday in Grantown-on-Spey in the Cairngorm National Park; warm (23 degrees Celsius), humid and sunny! For once! I was there for the Big BioBuzz day and saw some amazing moths, hence my compadres here; the eyed Emperor Moth Saturnia pavionia, and my white friend Puss Moth Cerura vinula. Both are huge and very impressive!

Today's NOTD is one of the new Collection 2000 nail polishes for summer, "Bongo Beat". It's a mermaidish, blue/green duochrome, not unlike Orly's "It's up to blue", but more tropical green mixed in, which is hard to capture on camera. Absolutely lovely! This is 2 coats with Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat.

I will be trying to post more this week, I've been so busy lately!

NOTD: Zoya "Charla"

Another lovely polish from the new summer collection Sparkle from Zoya! This is 3 thin coats and no top coat. Insane duochrome sparkle, sooo hard to catch on camera! So far I am absolutely in love with the polishes from the Sparkle collection. I love the glass-fleck finish, so sparkly but totally smooth!

Watching Jamie does Stockholm and am quite surprised that Essex-boy Jamie has actually eaten surströmming without spewing! Respect! Haha, the smell of that stuff is so anti-social, and I really hate it.

Moving on. I am about to try a bunch of new stuff including Make Believe self tan, so keep an eye on the blog over the May Day weekend to find out what is cookin'!

NOTD: Zoya "Kotori"

Sometimes you think "Hey what can I do to cheer myself up?". Put on "Zombieland" or "Evolution" DVD. Have a good dig into my nail polish stash and fish out a polish I've not used yet, such as "Kotori". Have a minty foot bath and a face mask... And voila - I feel better! Oh and there was some eating of Carte D'Or Crema di Mascarpone icecream involved...

So here is "Kotori". It is very sheer for such a dark polish, this is 4 thin coats, with Sally Hansen MegaShine. The formula is a bit runny and messy. Its nice and sparkly though, a teal-y indigo shimmer in a black base. Doesn't dry very well though, and MegaShine made it more dull for some reason... I have to work on this base / top coat combo, it's just not working for me right now. Then again Zoya doesn't dry very well on me normally. No matter. Still a lovable manicure!

Evil nail polish staining and Easter

Tiny bit busy here. And one of my nail polishes (the glorious-in-the-bottle but crap-a-roo-formula Sinful "Daddy's Girl") stained my nails and fingers something rotten while taking it off :( And all the photos were rubbish. So I decided to go naked (on the nails, mind you!) for tomorrow...

So I am giving you my Barry M comparison, of the new "Blueberry Icecream" on the left (or as the bottle says "Pale Blue"...) versus the old Barry M "Pure Turquoise" on the right. Slightlest more green tint to the "Pure Turquoise" polish but that is all. What you guys think? I was hoping for a lighter pastel blue but this is nice too. I can't comment on formula as I haven't tried it yet. However I am a bit disappointed that it is not actually called "Blueberry Icecream"...

Recent NOTDs!

Hello here are my two most recent NOTDs, been so busy I've not had time to post these!

The bottom one is OPI "Smitten with mittens". This I am not sure about - it looks so super-glittery in the bottle with lots of gold sparkle, but on the nail it becomes a muted version of China Glaze "Ruby Pumps". Very smooth and opaque to apply though, and it lasted pretty well too!

The top one is a new love for me - Famous by Sue Moxley SuedeFX nail polish in "30". This should have been called "Awesome steeley blue-grey suede matte" or something along those lines, because that's exactly what it is :) this is ONE coat with no top coat. As most mattes, it's wearing off after a day or so, but it's totally worth it! It retails for £4.50 in Superdrug and comes in 8 shades if I remember correctly! I'm going out to get the pink one tomorrow lunchtime!!

NOTD: OPI "Absolutely Alice"

We are in temporary rented accommodation now, so things should be settling down soon! My problem again is the lighting for my photos... It takes ages to find a good spot. Anyway I should have the rest of my collection with me at the weekend which comforts me :)

This is one of four polishes from their new OPI Alice in Wonderland collection, to celebrate the release of Tim Burton's movie with the same name that's coming in March. I for one can't wait to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D at my local Cineworld!

"Absolutely Alice" is a dense glitter in a translucent base consisting of blue and gold particles. It is insanely sparkly, just like the particles in the Zoya Ultra Glitters. I have to say, OPI is pumping out some great colours right now - "Merry midnight", "Shimmery chic", "Smitten with mittens" and "Absolutely Alice". I am hoping for more glitters soon! :)

This is 3 coats with Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat. 3 coats is not a problem as this polish dries very quickly - it's propbably because it is mostly glitter particles. It does eat top coat however so best put on two coats of top coat or you will have the rough, sandy feeling of glitter on your nails.

NOTD: Bloom "Bianca"

I've worn this one before, but I am going away for a few days so I was wanting something unique yet stylish and hard-wearing. "Bianca" is in my Top 10 of All Time, the formula is flawless (almost) and wears like iron on me. And of course, the colour is awesome!! If I was allowed nail polish when I went for my foot surgery, this would probably be it. I am looking at the old photo and thinking how great my nails were back then, now there is too much DIY, cleaning, typing and stuff for them to be able to grow successfully.

Nevermind! :) I am sipping julmust and wishing I was back in Sweden, I hear they've got loads of snow. We've got some left, but none on the trees and the temperature is fluctuating wildly from thawing out to icy cold.

NOTD: Cèlè "Cobalt"

I got these polishes about a year ago and reviewed the one called "Cherry Liqueur". I swear I've worn "Horizon" as well but I'll be damned if I can find it on my blog!

"Cobalt" is a fine shimmer, lit-from-within, glowy dark blue. It's very smooth to apply and dry quickly. This is 2 coats over Sally Hansen Nail Quencher and MegaShine top coat. I think that these are not 3-free, it has a familiar old whiff to it :)

I think these are now discontinued, they were being sold incredibly cheaply on eBay for a while and I think some might still be there. I love these polishes, I think I might be cruising eBay a bit later to find other colours... But first, I must make a cream cake!

NOTD: Sinful "Nail Junkie" layering

I love the name of this supremely sparkly teal polish! :) It is a bit sheer so I decided to layer over GOSH "Blue Monday". However, "Blue Monday" was also quite sheer to my dismay; I had to work 2 thick coats of it under "Nail Junkie". "Nail Junkie" is one coat only. Anyway it's hard to capture the super-sparkly nature of this layered manicure! I must've take 50 pics of each stage, but only these 2 photos turned out OK! This is with Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat and Nail Quencher base coat.

Please excuse the dry cuticles, I am back doing DIY and painting so my hands are incredibly dry at the moment, and I have two broken nails on my right hand. Oh well. Soon I will have everything done! :)
Oh yeah I meant to say - Essie "Angora Cardi" was on and looked great until Saturday when I started the DIY. Thats 5 days, people. I *love* "Angora Cardi" :D

NOTD: Sally Hansen "Jumpin' Jade"

I originally put on CND "Blueblood" but I just can't stand how it looks black all the time. So I changed to the luscious emerald Sally Hansen Inst-Dri "Jumpin' Jade". This is 1 coat only! I decided to jazz it up a bit with a coat of Urban Decay "Cult" on my ring fingers. The brush for the Sally Hansen is flat and fans out like the brush for the new Rimmel LycraPro, but the formula is very runny and ended up flooding my small nails. I then had to battle with my camera to pick up the shimmer from "Jumpin' Jade".

Packing my flat up has started and has caused my already dry hands and cuticles to start self-cracking and the ectopic eczema is rampant :( Not impressed. No nail polish looks good on me right now... Guess it's a phase. I will try and put on some of my fave polishes during this week to pick myself up a bit :)

NOTD: China Glaze "Eyes Like Sapphires"

I got this beauty in a swap ages ago and I've been waiting for the perfect moment to put it on. We've had really rubbish weather lately so first I thouhgt of putting on Rimmel Play Fast "Out of control" to hot things up, but it was next to this one on the shelf and I immediately changed my mind.

This is 3 coats over Nailtek II base coat and with Sally Hansen MegaShine top coat over it. I love the bright navy base and the silver glitter. It's a true eye-catcher! The formula is great if just that little bit sheer, hence 3 layers. But the brush appear to have become a bit splayed over time so it's a bit messy to apply, sorry about that.

NOTD and I'm Back! :)

Hey guys, I hope you all missed me, I sure missed writing for you! :) As you see I had a fantastic holiday with lots and lots of puffins, seals and other sea birds! I am now back from the wild with a tanned face, one broken nail and well, ahem, a sunburned neck requiring endless aloe vera gel! And a load of fantastic products to review over the coming weeks! Once I have caught up on my email, post and paperwork that is! :)

When I returned from the Stonehaven Open Air Pool today where I was bobbing about in it's 28°C / 82°F salty water while it was raining, I did today's NOTD is China Glaze's Blue Island Iced Tea, from the Bahama Blues collection of 2008. It's sparkly and foil-y. This is 3 coats, with a new base and top coat 2-in-1, Sally Hansen Diamond Strength. I am road testing this one for possible use in my mobile salon, so stay tuned for a review this week!

NOTD: Revlon "Not so blue-berry"

As far back as I remember I've had a penchant for gimmicky stuff... This came all the way from America! But this is actually a GOOD gimmick! It does actually smell very fruity, and goes on incredibly smooth and shimmers intensely. And the colour is a beautiful pale lilac-blue colour, perfect for spring! Woohoo! :)

NOTD: NYX "Jungle"

I am so totally into swapping! Once again I was overwhelmed by the fantastic experience that is people swapping what they don't want for something they do want :) What I wanted was NYX "Jungle", and I got it, and a bunch of great extras, all green!

So this is the experience that is NYX "Jungle": incredibly oceanic duochrome with a juicy, jelly finish. This is 3 layers. "Jungle" is one of those polishes I've craved for ages, and boy, it doesn't disappoint.

NOTD: Savina "Marine Life"

I received this gem in a swap from America, and I was immidiately drawn to the fantastic colour of it. I opened the bottle and saw the formula was sort of goopy and highly pigmented so I decided that Seche Clear would probably be the best choice of base coat. It applied thickish but absolutely beautifully. This is ONE thicker layer of colour. Only one. Perfect coverage. And not really any cleanup to do! It dries to a soft matte finish which is exquisite to look at! I love it. So different from anything else I have :) Thank you so much to the lovely MrsFinley @ Makeupalley!
Can't really find any information on this brand, so if you know more about it, please let me know :)
