this is what i call a real find for teacup tuesday.  only .69 cents each piece at the neighborhood goodwill store.  they had the whole set with tea plates but i just bought one cup and saucer.  can you believe, under a $1.50.  although made in china (what isn't these days) it is signed in gold by a designer that i can't really make out.  it has the most beautiful flowers in the happy colors i cherish so much.  so there, my humble little teacup. 

i photographed it against my latest art technique discovery which is a transfer of a vintage paper image onto fabric by using gesso and letting it dry overnight and then peeling the background paper.  if you would like instructions, i would be happy to explain it to you.  still sewing bundles and crocheting since my fingers can never be still

french enamelware teapot i eccentrically purchased from england. isn't this shade of blue just gorgeous?  and look at the little birdy admiring his surroundings. i fell instantly in love with this teapot and just had to have it.  well you see, aqua or calypso or turquoise is my favorite color. no cup to go with it though.  i'll have to look for an aqua enamel cup although i don't care much for drinking out or eating off enamel.  i like my tea in bone china or japanese pottery.  i don't even enjoy it out of ceramic cups; it just doesn't taste the same.
so here i am again at teacup tuesday since   i wanted to share, ok maybe brag a little too.  i so look forward to these tuesdays where i have found some lovely new friends and followers. so i'll hop over and also post on the etsy cottage style blog linky  since they are having a vintage alphabet party and the letters are s, t & u.

 
today i have a wellness doctors' appointment.  just want to make sure everything is "balanced" in my insides.  i never, ever go to the doctor but my friend richard insists yearly checkups are a must.

"oh look we have created enchantment"  aka Teacup Tuesday invites us to make little vignettes showing off our teacups.  well, although i am a hoarder of pretty things and a peddler by chosen profession, i only have a very few teacups so had to actually buy this mug at kmart while i was shopping for wrapping tape for my sold packages.  teacups have become collector's items and some are quite pricey so i will have to get very creative in the future to continue our teaparty soirees.  thank goodness this set was very affordable as in "on sale" in the country living aisle.  i was ecstatic, i would be able to post again after a skipped week.  the towel was a special farewell gift from my friend maria cecilia who has the most divine blog and the enamel sign i purchased a few months ago while on a trip to buenos aires' san telmo street fair.  note that it says cafe-bar so you know in this house there is tea time and cocktail time, two spectrums of enjoyment.
 
what a better moment than a calm quiet break to give my daily thanks, (the miners in chile are soon to see the light of day again, emotional sniffing as i write this), to ask for those i love, to put myself into HIS hands.

...and the person i'd most like to have tea with today jamie lee curtis=smart,beautiful,funny,sexy, sensual, profound,and CREATIVE!  she writes children's books which have become national bestsellers, this is what i call a complete woman. did you hear her goodbye speech when her father tony curtis passed away?  right on!

it's Teacup Tuesday again and for the longest time i have been wanting to do a post on english cornishware.  having grown up in england and spent many a summer in cadgwith, cornwall, i naturally grew up with this tableware.  i still remember my mother making us soft boiled eggs for breakfast in our cornishware cups,

although we later insisted on getting the noddy cups, a cartoon character very popular in england during the 60's.  if there is any middle class tableware par excellence, it is cornishware.  simple and yet beautiful with that english country cottage feel.  it looks gorgeous on hutches when you put all the pieces together. ironically i have not one piece of cornishware in my home although i've bid on a few milk jugs always having lost to a higher bidder.  so most of the photos here are from Flickr. maybe it's time to renew the search in spite of my vowing to do with what i have for the moment, trying desperately to de-clutter the house.

Cornishware, as it is correctly known, has been in production since the 1920s when Tom G Green bought a pottery and started making breakfast ware. Now, there are collectors all over the world and rare and vintage pieces trade for hundreds of pounds. The factory had closed down in 2007 but was purchased recently and production is in full swing again with innovations; cornishware will now also come in red and white.
