NOTD and Katy Perry minis!

Yes, I knoooow... I've been kinda inactive lately and I do apologise! I love doing my blog but sadly I have redundancy-related paperwork to deal with at the moment (yes, I am under threat of redundancy AGAIN) so I am not getting a lot of extra time in the evenings. Anyway enough of the crap stuff! I got an 'overdue' Xmas and birthday pressie from The Weebie today, see above! I wanted to get these so I was exstatic to find it was part of my pressie! Thank you the Weeb! :) Now I need to top these beauties in her overdue wedding/Xmas/birthday present... :/

I've got a formal occasion tomorrow so sadly no NOTD with the Katy Perry's today - it is the old trusted China Glaze "Innocence". This is 2 coats with quick-dry top coat. I can't lose with this polish; it's sheer without the streaks and light nude pink without the overly white finish. This bottle is almost finished so might need to look into getting another one. Re-purchasing nail polish?? Me?? Unheard of until now surely!

I promise I will put a more exciting NOTD on tomorrow night - gotta go to see my bank manager on Saturday to upgrade my bank account so I might need a bit of "Teenage Dream" to keep my spirits up...

NOTD: China Glaze "Innocence" with matte top coat

Hello everyone! We're very snowy here in Aberdeen, so I really wanted to do a manicure with Color Club "Snowflakes" but I have to be 'smart' tomorrow so I chose to do my old nude fave "Innocence" but with Rimmels matte top coat! And here it is!

This is 2 coats of "Innocence" with a slick of the Rimmel matte top coat. I think I like the glossy version better but hey this is a novelty!

Now I am off to work on my knitting while the little kitty sleeps (his name is Elvis and he is adorable, see photo attached!) while watching 'Aliens v Predator: Requiem'!

Recent NOTDs

Dudes, I've been sooo busy the last week :O I finally managed to dig out my desk and my gaming computer from behind the moving boxes. So about a tonne of flatpack rubbish and old shite, I can finally sit and play Bioshock 2 and use my 2 Helmers full of nail polish! :) Sweet!

Anyway I still took some pix of my NOTDs for you. The first one this week was the nude glitter "Twinkletoes" from Finger Paints. This is 2 coats and top coat - and its much lovelier than this in real life!

Tonight's NOTD isthe super-glittery teal "Emerald City" from Models Own. I was disappointed these glitters were the same bumpy glitters you get from any cheap line - just like craft glitter in a clear polish; at the price I expected more, say, in line with Zoya Ultra-Glitters or OPI "Absolutely Alice". But hey... As "Emerald City" is messy to apply and see-thru, I put Rimmel "Skyhigh" on underneath but you can't really see it unless you take a close-up look like this photo. Very glittery but also very bumpy and sheer. Models Own, I feel disappointed...

What do you think?

NOTD: Bourjois "4"

I needed something speedy today so I picked out this glass fleck nude. This is 2 coats but I think I should've done 3... Nevermind! This is a nice superbly sparkly nude which will go with any of my new outfits tomorrow :)

Must be off - got Windows updates to manage!

NOTD: Nails Inc "Diet Coke: London"

What was I thinking?? Nude/greige creme, when I have such awesome choices as Topshop "Copper Coated" and "Carry on camping"?? Well, I don't know, been really suffering from my recently bruised ribs after all that gardening yesterday (I couldn't even get out of bed and couldn't sleep for my sore back and midriff)... I think I may just be ill, hehe.

It's a nice polish though! Same buttery smooth Nails Inc formula as ever, and this is 2 perfect coats and top coat. I like it. Maybe will look better if I'd not broken a nail today doing the vegetables for roast chicken... Damn you potato peeler from IKEA!!! Never mind, it's done, I just have to suffer for a while until it grows out. This is one of 4 different colours that you get free right now when you buy 2 500ml Diet Coke bottles from Boots! But this was the only unique colour so I got this one.

Anyway, I will do my first "face" with my new Topshop makeup tomorrow, so stay tuned for a FOTD tomorrow night! :)

NOTD: Bloom "Nicole"

So my GOSH manicure lasted all week, almost! By Thursday it was decidedly derelict and was replaced by Bloom "Nicole", a semi-sheer nude. Not the best on my *very* yellow nail tips but hey. I noticed that the GOSH Fix Base Coat had turned very rubbery on my tips, it was a pain to remove! But I guess it made the manicure last for almost 5 days, a record for me!

"Nicole" is a lovely nude, with the tiniest of hint of shimmer to it. If my tips weren't so stained it would probably make it into the Top 20 Nail Polish list however it doesn't cover the staining totally. It seems semi-sheer, this is 2 coats; it would make a lovely French manicure. I used Sally Hansen Diamond 2-in-1 as base coat and Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat.

My bottle had broken in transit but as usual, the bottle kind of heals itself when the polish harden in the cracks so it's still useable. I will decant it into a new bottle once my stash is out of it's moving box, hopefully by next week!

NOTD and.. ..holy shizzle!!!

So as I am busy packing and moving home, fever sweeps over the nail community! Avid readers may remember this comment on my Zoya Posh post... I requested Zoya make a dark green version of "Posh" - Art of Beauty commented teasingly "Your wish may just come true?" They're weren't joking!! Check out the scoop on All Lacquered Up!

While I am here, please find enclosed my NOTD, Barry M "Baby Pink". It's a really pale opaque pink, super-glossy with good drying time. Not my usual bright self but I just BubbleWhite-ed nails so wanted something pale! This is 3 coats.

I better be off, got stuff to do, places to go. But I will be back soon!

NOTD: Holographic French manicure

I had this idea for a while, and wanted to try it with my newt stint of false nails. I love the Kiss full cover nails, they have great shape and wear, plus you get a box of 100 assorted sizes for £5.49. These are the oval ones, you also get square and sport ones as well. I filed mine a bit squoval this time, looks a bit more natural with my cuticles. It's remarkable how a nice set of nails makes me feel better! :)

I put on 2 coats of franken nude pink "Cotton Candy" and did the tips with the incredibly holographic and microglittery Isadora "51 Sparkling Ice" and then the chunkier holographic Essie "Carnival". A slick of Sally Hansen MegaShine and I was off taking pictures!

Next time I will try this and make a strong white French tip first to make the glitter stand out even more!

NOTD: Maybelline "Pink Carats"

So I have to keep it subtle this week because I am covering work for the big boss's PA this week. I found this little gem in my untrieds, I got it in a swap a while back. I thought it might be too skin coloured for me but it isn't! It is just like a sparkly version of China Glaze "Innocence". This is two coats of sparkly nude goodness and Poshe top coat.

FRANKENPOLISH: Cotton Candy

I never thought how hard it would be to choose "the perfect nude" for job interviews. China Glaze "Innocence" is lovely but just that bit too white to make me look ill at the moment. I needed something pinker, but still a creme jelly finish and obviously not TOO pink, it is supposed to be a nude after all. Also the see-thru pinky-white of "Innocence" was showing up my nasty peeling middle digit on my right hand. What to do? Well, first I scoured the shops for the perfect pink but didn't find it. Secondly, I despaired. The closest I came was Rimmel French Manicure "French Rose", which wasn't pink enough... Thirdly, I made it myself instead.

I started off with China Glaze "Innocence", then added a smidgen of Rimmel LycraPRO "Urban Princess" and then added the optical whitener goodness of Rimmel Nail Whitener, a bit of Isadora "Milkshake" (an offwhite nude) and then some Rimmel French Manicure "French Rose". Wow! It's the perfect pastelly Barbie pink jelly! And it disguises my peeling nail perfectly! Lets just hope that my potential employer think its lovely too, haha, they should only know the toils I went through to get it :)

NOTD: China Glaze "Innocence"

I saw this polish on e-polishblog today, so I went past my Sally's at lunchtime after dropping off some work at the printers and they had it in stock. I never thought that I would ever find a good nude polish, but "Innocence" is exactly what the doctor ordered! It's just the right pink, the right jelly sheer. I'm in love! :) What do you think? Is nude ok, or should it be colour?

I did a proper manicure as well today, with Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover (the green tube) and Bubblewhite whitening treatment. It actually worked better this time - I scrubbed the nails proper with a stiff nail brush after soaking and it worked like a miracle! I've not had pale pink nails and white tips since.. I was born?... I feel a new era of nail polish coming on :) After I've tried all my Sally Girls I bought today! :)
