FLY CALYPSO

oh how i lusted after this piece for weeks before actually buying it.  i had remembered a similar coffee pot i have which i am using to decorate a hutch in my guest room and, in the tradition of my enamelware accomplice maria cecilia, thought lots of similar pieces together would make it all the more striking.  so off i went in a taxi one saturday to make it mine urged by the added fact that the owner of the antique stand would be leaving for texas in a couple of days.

so here it is with me in my hotel, brighteningmy environs until i return home at the beginning of february.

due to the season, maria cecilia and i have not been able to venture out to the flea markets as much as we would like, it's very very hot and some of them are miles large so we get very hot and cranky but this friday we have promised ourselves to go.  i am still anxious to find more of my collection of catholic medals.

isn't she beautiful my friend maria cecilia?

NOTD: Rimmel 60sec "Sky High"

So this is my second pick of the 3 new Rimmel 60sec polishes. It's a lovely medium blue-turquoise. This is two coats over Nubar Nu-Nail. See the streak on the middle finger? I've noticed that Nu-nail makes the polish streak off when you put on the second coat, as if it has sort of loosened and sliding off the nail?.. Weird. I now think my recent spate of streaky polishes may be down to the base coat. I think I might re-visit OPI "Jade is the new black" with a 3rd base coat choice...

NOTD: Pure Ice "Heartbreaker"

I tried layering it over a dark navy creme, which was nice, but I throught I should try over a turquoise. I chose Color Club "Bizerk Turq" to layer this and it looks fantastic - like "Heartbreaker" SHOULD look if it wasn't so sheer :) But it's impossible to photograph the damn thing!!! Look to the bottle colour if you want to see how my mani really looks like :)

This is 2 coats Color Club with 3 coats of "Heartbreaker". The darker one is 1 coat of Nails Inc "Hanover Street" with 2 coats "Heartbreaker".

Also this is the saffron buns I baked for St Lucy's Day on Sunday :) They're yum-my if I say so myself! Now I must get that Lush Butterball bath ballistic into the bath and chill out - it's been a rather long day... :)

NOTD - China Glaze "Turned Up Turquoise"

My 101st blog entry - and it's a NOTD :)

I knew I needed something to cheer me up last night. I went for my Rheumatology assessment today and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, so I am glad I have this cheerful colour on my tips!

"Turned up turquoise" is a re-release part of the Ink Collection, it was previously released in the Wow Factor Collection. I have thought about this colour a lot before I got it, but never thought it would be so different to my other turquoise/teals as it is! This is a stunner! The colour reminds me of a pair of Madonna-style fishnet gloves from Jeans&Clothes I had in the 80's. Anyway, moving on.

"Turned up turquoise" is OK with 2 coats but you can see a hint of VNL, so if you can't bear that, best get 3 coats on. As a neon, it also dries matte so gloop on that Seche Vite like theres no tomorrow! :) With a shiny top coat, this is electric, super-shimmery juicy turquoise goodness..

...and I <3 it :)
