Advice for the Makeup Color-Challenged

Hair Color SwatchesHi,

I'd love to know what shades of hair colour would make you look much younger. Am a fresh member to your site. I find this website very informative and interesting.

Any best fashion hair colours for ages 18-25, best permanent colouring kit and best colour safe shampoos and conditioners?

Am so dumb when it comes to choosing colours that suit me. Am fair in complexion with pink lips. Don’t even know what shades of lip sticks, gloss and lip liner to go for. I really need flattering and sexy colours. Moreso is it so nice to use eye brow pencil irrespective of the colour?

Please could you list out which anti aging skin care products work best and anti aging products to try?

Thank you.
Temmy

Hi Temmy,

Thank you for your kind comments and welcome to Ageless Beauty. I hope you will visit often.

Your Hair Color
At your age, you can still follow uber-trendy hair colors if you want to go wild (purples, bright reds); but in general it’s best to choose a color within four shades of the one you were born with. If you were a towhead as a toddler and now have mousy blond hair, think about going back to the original you.

Why? Two reasons: 1. Your complexion and natural hair color were “designed” to go together; and 2. Your new look and hair coloring schedule will be much easier to maintain if you stay fairly close to your natural hue.

Highlights and lowlights add a lot of life and visual bounce to your hair. There are kits to DIY highlights, but at least to start, you should let a professional do this for you. The placement and layering of different shades is a bit complicated for most beginners.

If you’ve never seen a professional colorist and prefer to DIY, here’s a way to get some hair color advice online. Go to TheHairStyler.com where you’ll find expert advice on all your hair color and styling questions.

You can use their Virtual Hairstyler to try about 50 different hair colors and 100 hairstyles on a model face which shares your face shape, complexion and current hair color. For $15 you can become a premium member. Among other things, that allows you to upload a photo of yourself to play with.

Tomorrow more color advice and some “best” product suggestions for Temmy.
