I went to a Red Hat Society luncheon last week and met the most amazing woman. Tillie is celebrating her 88th birthday this month and I swear - she doesn't look a day over 65. The whole table laughed with Tillie until we thought our sides would split.
She told us a doctor once asked her how she stayed looking and feeling so young. Her answer, "I laugh at everything. Even funerals." After we gasped in horror, we all dissolved into yet more laughter.
It reminded me of the George M. Cohan song, "Always Leave Them Laughing When You Say Goodbye." And I agree with Tillie – that’s the best way to go!
Always leave them laughing when you say goodbye;
Never linger long about, or else you’ll wear your welcome out;
When you meet a fellow with a tear dimmed eye,
You can leave him laughing if you try;
When he tells his troubles interrupt him with a joke –
Tell him one he’s never heard and he’ll declare that it’s a bird;
When he’s giggling good, you know, that’s the time to turn and go.
Always leave them laughing when you say goodbye.
Have a laugh right now and listen to the whole song in this YouTube video.
