I’ve been rebuilding my willpower since January when I resolved to check my multiple e-mail accounts just twice a day. I wasn’t even thinking of what I really wanted to do for myself, which is to lose just five pounds and more importantly to tone my body and get back in condition.
It’s so easy to get sucked into the things we “have to do” and put ourselves last. I couldn’t find time for exercise and as time went on, I couldn’t even find the energy. I was feeling like a slug.
With the extra time I found by spending less time on e-mail, I vowed to clean up my office and finish some of the projects I have in process. Clearing away all the clutter felt so good – both physically and psychologically, that I thought, now I have space to do a little Pilates or yoga.
My exercise journal showed I hadn’t done a workout since last May 22nd! Last week I finally did it. Actually I did two one-hour workouts.
I hardly thought about it at the time. It wasn’t like, “I have to work out. I have to make myself work out.”
It was like “I have some time for me. Why not put on a DVD and just try it.”
How about you? What small change could you make that would help get you back on track and feel in control of your own life? I’d love to hear.
