Review of Murad Lighten and Brighten Eye Treatment

Murad Lighten and Brighten Eye TreatmentLighten and Brighten Eye Treatment is another Murad award-winning product, having been selected by Allure magazine as the best eye cream for 2007.

Lighten and Brighten contains Hydroquinone at a low concentration of 1.5% to diminish dark circles caused by excess melanin in the delicate eye area. It has high concentrations of two cosmeceutical peptides: Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (collagen stimulating) and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 (anti-glycation).

[Read about the various cosmeceutical peptides in our Cosmeceutical Peptide Glossary.]

There is a high concentration of Glycosaminoglycans to moisturize and support the skin’s glycan network. There are starches for temporary tightening and several antioxidants to fight free radical damage.

My only caution is that Murad Lighten and Brighten Eye Treatment contains a long list of botanicals, most of which have antioxidant power and are soothing to skin.

Unfortunately a few of the botanicals are known skin irritants. If your skin is sensitive, this eye cream may not be a good choice for you and you would be better advised to try Murad Resurgence Renewing Eye Cream.

BTW, do you know that Dr. Murad has written an anti-aging skin care how-to book in which he details his simple 5-minute twice-a-day regimen to keep us Wrinkle-Free Forever?

Of course that’s a bit of hyperbole, but I’ll do whatever I can to protect and preserve my skin.
