I just finished a bottle of Perricone MD Advanced Face Firming Activator. It lasted over three months because I simply didn’t have time for it some mornings – or I forgot. It should last about two months if used every day because the bottle contains a generous 2 ounces.
This lotion goes on after sunscreen and before moisturizer (which explains why I didn’t use it every day even when I remembered). I love the formula. It’s antioxidant-rich and has a high concentration of Glycolic Acid to speed cell turnover. It really does improve skin tone and texture – with just one bottle.
The combination of Alpha Lipoic Acid (Thioctic Acid), a universal antioxidant (meaning that it is effective in both the oil and water-based segments of cells) and the antioxidant DMAE have been shown to work synergistically, each boosting the other’s protective power.
If you have any concerns over the use of topical DMAE, please read this very balanced report at Smart Skin Care. One study does not a proof make. An in vitro test is indicative not probative. DMAE (if it does cause cell vacuolization in human skin) may be another ingredient which works to improve skin by sending its natural repair mechanisms into overdrive – like retinoids.
