Review of DermaSilk 5 Minute Face Lift

I had a few things to say about the Consumer Reports’ Anti-Wrinkle Face Serum Study last week. My biggest complaint was about their product selection.

Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Regenerating serum was the only one I might have picked myself. I have tested and reviewed several Regenerist products and almost liked every one. The main active ingredient in the line is the cell-communicating ingredient
Niacinamide.

Anyway, I thought I should take a look at the two top-rated products which were judged only “Slightly More Effective” in the CR test. They are: #1 DermaSilk 5 Minute Face Lift; and #2 Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle.

DermaSilk 5 Minute Face Lift

DermaSilk 5 Minute Face LiftWhen I start to look at a product’s ingredient list, I never know where the journey will take me. This is one of the funniest ones I’ve been on yet.

Here is the ingredient list for DermaSilk 5 Minute Face Lift: Purified aqua, helix aspersa secretion (naturally contains: allantoin, chains of amino acids [peptides], vitamins, natural antimicrobial peptides, glycolic acid), hydrolyzed collagen, elastin, glycerin, triethanolamine, carbomer 9-40, methylparaben, propylparaben, fragrance, allantoin.

Are you as puzzled by “helix aspersa secretion” as I was? The parenthetical sounds interesting – allantoin … peptides, … glycolic acid.

Helix aspersa secretion is
snail slime from the common garden snail. I know it must be purified, but I’m not too excited by the idea of smearing snail slime on my face.

The fact that helix aspersa secretion is all-natural explains why DermaSilk can’t tell you exactly what is contained in it. The components are not standardized as they would be in a synthetic ingredient. Are those peptides the anti-aging sort? Probably not.
