5 Reasons to Have a Nose Job

In HidingI had rhinoplasty a week ago.

Let me tell you, it has been a pretty rough week. My face is mustard yellow with splotches of blue from my eyes to my chin. There’s no more pain – just some residual tenderness from the beating my face took. I’m still quite tired and only able to work about six hours a day rather than the usual 12.

Why would anyone have their nose “done” at age 64? The surgical risks are higher. The recovery is slower and more difficult. If I’d survived all those years with a less-than-perfect proboscis, what was the point of getting a new look at this age?

Eight days ago, I had only 25% breathing capacity through my nose. Today I can breathe like a normal person. No more snoring. I expect fewer infections (because one function of the nose is to filter pathogens out of the air you breathe in). I also hope for no more constant running nose (which may have been my body’s attempt to moisturize the mucous membranes that were occluded by my deviated septum).

When the surgeon removed the packing from my nostrils yesterday, I cried tears of joy. I didn’t know taking a deep breath of fresh air could feel so wonderful.

I must admit – it’s also nice that my nose will no longer point east when I’m heading north. Lol.

5 Reasons to have a “Nose Job”:

1. To breathe better;
2. To sleep without snoring;
3. To stop constant runny nose;
4. To filter pathogens from the air; and last and least
5. To look more attractive.
