[Jean’s answer to Ellen regarding NU SKIN ageLOC started yesterday.]
As you noted, the ageLOC products are quite pricey. The most expensive, ageLOC Future Serum, retails for $236 an ounce!
The questions for someone interested in trying ageLOC become:
1. Is there anything revolutionary in ageLOC products?
2. Has the Lifegen research uncovered CR-mimetics to retard and repair skin aging?
From what I could find, I have to say “Probably not” to both questions. AgeLOC Future Serum is a silicone-based serum similar to many others which cost far less. The ingredients in Future Serum are not out of the ordinary - with a couple of exceptions.
AgeLOC Future Serum contains a small amount of Acetyl Hexapeptide-2 on which I can find very little information. It is described on some chemical product sites as a Growth Hormone Releasing peptide.
AgeLOC Future Serum also contains a fair amount of Equol. Equol is a non-steroidal estrogen produced in the digestion of a phytoestrogen flavonoid found in soybeans. Equol is an antagonist of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) which is believed to be a factor is androgenic hair loss.
Why either of these hormone-related ingredients should be included in a facial serum, I haven’t a clue. Unfortunately, NU SKIN is not forthcoming with any rationale.
If you’re looking for a very good and affordable silicone-based facial serum, I recommend Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum or Source Naturals Skin Eternal Serum
