Many people stop using sun protection products when the weather turns cooler. That’s a BIG (skin) MISTAKE.
While it’s true that the sun’s UVB (think “Burning”) rays grow less intense as we head toward winter, the sun’s UVA (Aging) rays remain just as damaging all year long.
A recent study reported in the Archives of Dermatology revealed that basal and squamous cell (non-melanoma) skin cancers are now the most common type of cancer in the United States.
Broad spectrum sun protection products are the only ones which assure protection against cancer causing UVA rays. Bottom line: use broad spectrum sun protection ALL YEAR LONG.
You can back off your SPF from 30+ to 15 or 20 if you like, but be sure to look for UVA protective ingredients like Helioplex, Avobenzone, Ecamsule or Mexoryl.
I personally like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer which comes in several SPF strengths. Find one that suits you. Broad spectrum sun protection is the most important anti-aging treatment for skin that money can buy.
