We’ve all seen the intriguing ads for Neutrogena’s Clinical Lifting Wrinkle Treatment proudly displaying the Good Housekeeping seal. The before and after (8 weeks) photos in the ad are impressive.
The ad copy is intriguing as well:
“Neutrogena Clinical contains two breakthrough technologies stored separately … When combined, the ion2 complex activates the silky moisturizer, releasing essential ion mineral conductors …”
The words “ion” and “conductor” imply that electricity is generated “reawakening a youthful look”. We DO know that the body produces its own youth-giving electricity and that its ability to do so declines significantly with age. We also know that there are proven devices using electricity for skin rejuvenation.
I wrote about the NuFace Microcurrent Home-Use Anti-Aging Wand just last month.
According to Dr. Peter H. Lathrop, Ph.D, of Bioelectric Medical Solutions, Inc., all functions of the human body are electrochemical. “Minute amounts of electricity are needed by the cells to provide energy to fuel [their] regenerative process.”
So the question becomes, is it possible for topical products to generate sufficient electricity to have a similar firming and lifting effect?
Come back tomorrow for a little lesson on the Chemical Generation of Electricity.
