Diet Tips to Help You Eat Healthy for Life

Holiday TemptationsDiet Tip 1: So You Slipped – So What!

The winter holidays are officially in full swing now that Thanksgiving is (literally) under our belts.

This wonderful festive season brings lots of opportunities to overindulge and live to regret it. You can avoid a New Year of regret if you take stock right now.

If you allow bad habits to take hold, you'll lapse back into them from time to time. That’s only natural. It’s why we call them “habits”.

So if you don't want those bad habits to set in, give yourself permission to slip occasionally.

Recognize that you are human. Plan ahead as to how you will handle these lapses in a positive way.

You will
not beat yourself up. You will not throw up your hands and say, “I knew I couldn’t get through the holidays without gaining weight.” You will not give up.

Instead, be kind to yourself, forgive yourself and get back on track. Keep two things in mind: the sooner you get back on track, the less damage will be done; and, if you get back on track, the lapses will become fewer and further between.

Eventually, your new healthy way of eating will be habitual. It will be your new habit and as hard to break as the unhealthy holiday binge way of eating.

The Sonoma Diet, program includes many suggestions on dealing with cravings and recovering from lapses. Read my personal favorite Diet Tips here.
