It’s that time of year when we tend to reflect on how we’ve done this year and think about what we’d like to improve in the coming year.
This is easy for me with respect to my personal anti-aging progress for 2010, because I bought Christopher Hopkins’ book, Staging Your Comeback: A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45 in March.
One of the first exercises you’re asked to complete is to list your “wants”, your “wills”, and then describe your “new self”. Here’s what I wrote.
My Wants
• Reach 117 lbs.
• Regain flexibility.
• Regain some strength and muscle.
• Improve my cardio health.
My Wills
• I will lose the 8 lbs. to get to 117.
• I will start stretching and doing Pilates/yoga moves for flexibility.
• I will: find new DVDs like Kari Anderson’s Angles, Lines and Curves to rebuild strength; and look through my old favorite exercise DVDs to find any that are still age-appropriate.
• I will add some endurance and cardio work.
My New Self
• I weigh 117 lbs.!
• I have excellent range of motion for my age. I have excellent balance as well.
• I am strong and can do for myself (open jars, heft a 55 lb. bag of dog food or 80 lb. bag of salt).
• I love doing my Exercise DVDs without feeling guilty about “stealing” time for myself.
Come back tomorrow to find out how I did. I promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth ;-)
