What Strength Copper Peptide is Most Effective?

[Willy’s question about the Best Concentration for Copper Peptide skin products ran yesterday.]

As for 2% being too high: I couldn’t find the Pickart quote you refer to; but Dr. Pickart’s Skin Biology company has released a Super GHK-Copper Serum and Gel. While they don’t share the percent concentration, they say, “The Skin Biology formula contains approximately five times more GHK-Copper than the strongest formulations available and fifty times the concentration found in most GHK-Copper cosmetics.”

The Skin Biology Super Serum and Cream are also loaded with antioxidants to offset the free radicals generated by the high concentration of Copper Peptide.

There is good science behind a concentration of GHK-Cu as high as 2%. A 2% GHK gel showed promising results in treatment of 120 diabetic patients with neuropathic skin ulcers which are very resistant to healing. Application of a GHK-Cu gel increased the percentage of ulcer closure from 60.8% to 98.5%, and decreased the percentage of infection from 34% to 7%. (Mulder GD, Patt LM, Sanders L, et al., Journal of Wound Repair and Regeneration, October 1994)

The “best” percent concentration of GHK-Cu for anti-aging and hair loss treatment depends as much on the other ingredients and their synergistic effects as on the Copper Peptide alone, as evidenced by the care taken to add extra antioxidants in the new more highly concentrated Skin Biology products.

Jean
