Evaluating Bargain LED Wands

[This Specifications Analysis of the Acetino Pro LED Wand started yesterday.]

Tanda Regenerate
#3 LED Therapeutic Wavelengths
The wavelengths used by the Acetino Professional are:

1. 415 nm (blue) to treat acne*;
2. 525 nm (green) anti-inflammatory, promotes wound healing;
3. 650 nm (red) promotes collagen production;
4. 850 nm (infrared) evens out skin tone, reduces redness and age spots.

By comparison, the Baby Quasar red wand delivers four wavelengths ranging between 632 and 950 nm – all within the therapeutic range to reverse the visible signs of skin aging.

* Note that this wavelength delivered at 320 joules per square centimeter, damages and ultimately kills Propionibacterium acnes, the bacterium which causes acne vularis. The benefit of delivering blue light at 2.5 to 2.8 joules for acne treatment is not clear.

#4 Treatment Head Design
The Acetino Professional has 33 LED bulbs per treatment head but the treatment heads are smaller than other LED wands on the market. Therefore the bulbs themselves must be smaller and would deliver less light overall per treatment.

The Acetino has 33 LEDs in a 3 square inch area. The
Baby Quasar has only 24 bulbs but they are arranged over a 6 square inch area. The new more powerful Quasar MD also has 24 bulbs but they are three times the size of the BQ bulbs and the treatment head is almost 10 square inches.

In summary, The Acetino Professional LED Wand:

• Is bargain-priced;
• Delivers its light at power equivalent to LED wand models costing three times as much;
• Has a treatment head half the size of the more expensive popular brands like Baby Quasar and Tanda, i.e., it delivers less light per treatment;
• Only 2 of the 4 treatment heads are in the proven therapeutic range for skin rejuvenation; and
• The blue LED head for acne is of questionable value because a much higher power level is required to destroy the bacteria which cause acne vulgaris.
