Women for Palin

Dear Friends,

I want to invite you to join an exciting new grassroots movement in which I've become involved: Women for Palin. Women for Palin was started by intelligent, thoughtful women who are excited about Governor Sarah Palin's candidacy for Vice President and who want to support her candidacy in order to make a positive difference for the future of women and girls in America.

Her story is compelling. As a mother of five, she shows that women can be great mothers with successful careers if they so desire, even in male-dominated arenas such as politics. She walks her talk, giving birth to a Down Syndrome child after learning of his adverse prenatal diagnosis. She's a self-made woman and "hockey mom" of working-class roots who became involved because she saw that the needs of women, children and families weren't being met. Her remarkable accomplishments as Governor include the following:
Negotiated sound energy policy involving big corporate players, the US and Canadian governments, Canadian provincial governments, and native tribes, which included a new natural-gas pipeline;
Fostering broad bi-partisan cooperation on a wide range of issues such as ethics measures and an increase in the oil production tax;
Addressing skyrocketing oil and gas prices;
Signing the Safe Haven for Newborns Act;
Rooting out corruption, including corruption within her own party; and
Taking on "Big Oil" and forcing them to share their revenues with the people.
As you may know, there is a group of people who have organized themselves as "Women Against Palin." In a public letter they stated: "First and foremost, Ms. Palin does not represent us. She does not demonstrate or uphold our interests as American women." This group is actively seeking support, bloggers and more publicity. If you are a woman FOR Palin, don't let "Women Against Palin" speak for you. YOUR voice and action are important!

The specific goals of Women for Palin are as follows:
1) To reach out to like-minded but undecided women, especially in "battleground" states, with valuable information and motivation;
2) To encourage voter registration and early voting where available, and to make sure women have a plan to get to the polls on November 4th notwithstanding their many professional and family obligations; and
3) To host Women for Palin parties across America.

If you haven't already done so, make sure to register to vote! Many states have voter registration deadlines in early October, so it's important to do this soon and encourage your friends and family to do so. Most states accept the National Online Voter Registration Form, located at https://ssl.congress.org/congressorg/e4/nvra/. You can find your state election office's website and phone number at http://www.eac.gov/voter/how-to-contact-your-state-election-office. This election will come down to a small number of votes in a couple of key states, and WOMEN will make all the difference. Let's mobilize all the women we know! I encourage you to check out our website, http://www.womenforpalin.net/, and pass it on.

The battleground states (+/- 5 percentage points) with the most electoral votes are currently Florida (27 electoral votes), Pennsylvania (21 electoral votes), Ohio (20), Michigan (17), Virginia (13), Indiana (11), Minnesota (10), Wisconsin (10), and Colorado (9). (This info is from http://www.realclearpolitics.com/.)
Most of all, I encourage you to host a Women for Palin party and invite all of the like-minded and perhaps undecided women you know! Our strategy is "Palin it forward." I attended the very first Women for Palin party in Chicago last week, and there are already other Women for Palin parties ready to launch in several other states. If we each have at least one friend host a Women for Palin party, and each attendee at those parties has a friend host a party, an so on, the movement will grow exponentially! At http://www.womenforpalin.net/, there's a "how-to" on hosting a WFP party. It's easy! The first one was thrown together in 6 days. This idea may sound quaint, but it's actually the strategy that John F. Kennedy used to get elected to his first term as a Congressman. Women can and will have the same impact today! If you're interested, let me know and I'll give you the cell number of the first WFP party host. It's important to have the next round of parties ASAP, because the election is right around the corner. Also, people who host parties can send the info, including a photo, to http://us.mc527.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=WomenforPalin@yahoo.com and they'll post it on the website!

I hope you'll join me in this exciting new movement!

P.S. If you're not familiar with the facts on Governor Palin, check out our ever-expanding "Debunking the Myths" page at http://www.womenforpalin.net/.

P.P.S. In an online poll, you can tell PBS whether you think Sarah Palin is qualified to be vice president of our country. http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html And take advantage of any other opportunities in the media to show support for Sarah Palin's candidacy.
