Cream and Lotion for Dry Skin

There are lots of cosmetics available on the market these days. It is sometimes very difficult to decide which cream will be best for your skin. There are plenty great creams and lotions available, but there are also products that will do more harm than good. It is however very difficult, almost impossible, to know whether the particular cream or lotion is good for your skin, before actually trying it.

The reason why some creams are harmful to your skin is quite simple. All the creams and lotions consist of lots of chemicals which might cause allergic reactions.
I would therefore suggest you use natural creams and lotions. But how do you know whether the cream or lotion is 100% natural? You can never be sure unless…you prepare it yourself!

Below are two recipes for a cream and a lotion which you can prepare at home. They are 100% natural and, therefore, can’t harm your skin.

1. Honey Cold Cream for Dry Skin

You will need ¼ cup of honey, ¼ cup of vegetable shortening, 1 tablespoon of grounded almonds, 1 teaspoon of lecithin, 2 tablespoons of bee pollen, 1 egg yolk (at room temperature) and 1 teaspoon of rosewater or cologne water. Once you prepared all the ingredients it is time to mix them well.

You will notice that the cream has a bit of grainy and oily texture and in addition to using it as a cold cream it can also be used for sunburns and as conditioner to the hands before doing outside work. The above amount of ingredients will make about ¾ cup of the cream.

2. Dry Skin lotion

Ingredients needed: 1/8 teaspoon of Borax, ¼ c. of distilled water, ½ c. of fractionated coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of grated beeswax, 1 teaspoon of scent (add it slowly to adjust the scent of the lotion to your liking), 1/8 teaspoon of lecithin, ½ c. Aloe Vera Gel.

Combine borax and water and heat them almost to boiling. In a meantime, in another pan mix beeswax with oil and heat till the wax is melted. Now, very slowly add borax/water mixture to oil/beeswax mixture stirring briskly. For stirring you can use either small wire whisk or a handblender. Add scent during whisking (again, do it slowly) and leave to cool to room temperature. Once the lotion reached room temperature, it is time to add Aloe Vera Gel and whisk, so it is fully mixed with the lotion. Bottle and you have just made yourself a great, 100% natural lotion.
