This is THE most last minute Christmas ever! I’ve been so wrapped up working on the Opera North paintings that I barely noticed the days whizzing by. I cannot believe that TODAY is Christmas Eve! It’s unbelievably wretched having a major deadline in the midst of the holiday season! I only hope that my darling boy will forgive me for squeezing all the pre-Christmas fabulousity into a few craftacularly busy days. The Mr. has accused me of being a slave driver this week, but my past life ordains that (as a preventative measure) I pack in as much old fashioned Christmassy goodness into my darling son’s brain as I possibly can, whether I’m given 4 weeks, or in this case, a mere 4 days!
Needless to say, it has been an utter whirlwind of Christmas Chaos beginning late Sunday morning with decorating the Christmas tree that the boys had picked up during the annual trip to Noda farm. Twelve sets of lights and Three hundred ornaments later… Monday was spent baking dozens upon dozens of cookies (Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chunk and Chocolate Chip and Walnut) to give as Christmas gifts and working on a new set of Christmas Ornaments that turned out to be surprisingly time consuming. Tuesday the Christmas Ornament project continued to take the majority of the day but we somehow managed to make time for Caden to complete three Masterpieces before bedtime. Wednesday the new ornaments were hung, Masterpieces were framed, earrings were made, and the last minute scramble to get organized amounted to very little as I attempted to prioritize the last of the Christmas Crafty fun. This morning, true to my usual last minute form, I woke up at 4am to dig through the hundreds of Caden pictures to print the annual grandparent photo sets. I also made Christmas cards, a new Christmas Tree topper and baked a wreath cake for my MIL’s annual Christmas Eve bash.
If I didn’t quite pull off “The Best Christmas Ever” in my 4 days packed with the home-sweet-home of it all and the extensive crafty love, there is still more Mother and Son baking ahead (Sugar cookies and Gingerbread dough are awaiting in the refrigerator). And the Mr. and I did manage to purchase an abundance of material goods that would be sure to delight even the greediest of spoiled children on Christmas morning. But I have to say, the pile-o-presents is more about our desire to give, then Caden’s desire to receive. He’s such a good boy; he told us that he would be happy with whatever we decided to give him (except that it would be really really great if he could have the new Wii Super Mario Brothers). Speaking of which, I better stop lollygagging, I still have wrapping to do before the party this afternoon! I’ll post the Christmas Craft photos before I sign off for the holiday!
Have a Merry Christmas Everyone!
