Millions of people spend millions of dollars every year looking for an anti aging cream that will be their fountain of youth. However, while there's no escaping the natural aging process, a change of lifestyle may be what you need to keep your skin looking fresh. Wrinkle removal creams can help smooth those lines but knowing what causes skin wrinkles is your best defense. In this article, we'll discuss the causes of aging and some simple ways to keep your skin supple.
The skin is made up of three layers: the epidermis (outer layer), dermis (just under the epidermis) and subcutaneous (bottom layer). There are also various types of connective tissue, each with a distinct task. For example, collagen gives your skin its resilience, proteins provide plumpness, and elastin fibers supply elasticity. There are several ways of preventing all these elements from losing their effectiveness and producing a wrinkled appearance.
Sunshine, free radicals and hormones are some of the most common causes of skin wrinkles. Free radical damage causes wrinkles by activating the enzymes that break down collagen. Free radicals can come in the form of UV radiation in sunlight, smoking and exposure to air pollution. Menopause or decreased estrogen production can also make our skin look older. The best anti wrinkle plan is prevention. Use a high SPF sunscreen whenever you're going to be in the sun, use skin care products and cosmetics that contain sunscreen, drink lots of water and don't smoke.
Many people turn to the drug store to begin their fight against wrinkles. You can find all kinds of anti wrinkle creams available today. Some are as low as $10 while some can run into the hundreds of dollars. And the more pricey ones aren't always more effective. You will need to use a trial and error strategy for finding one which does the job.
The most recent craze in eradicating wrinkles is skin resurfacing. Based on the belief that removing skin layers reduces irregular depressions, skin resurfacing can be carried out in two ways. Dermabrasion scrapes away the skin, while chemical peels dissolve the skin. Laser skin resurfacing and Botox injections are the most up to date procedures created to restore aging skin.
If you have sensitive skin and are prone to blemishes, break outs and allergic reactions, then speak to your dermatologist. He or she can prescribe special creams that treat skin wrinkles without some of the harsh ingredients that can aggravate your sensitive skin. If you do have sensitive skin, then always do a patch test when trying a new product so that you'll have an idea of how your skin will react. You may also want to consider organic skin care products. They are every bit as effective without the chemicals and fragrances that can cause your skin to react.
