2010 was a year for change and transition; I stepped away from my past routine of floral series, sculpting multiple medallion collections and participating in numerous exhibitions to try “something different”. Overall, it was a year to slow down, to rethink, recharge, and reevaluate. I backed away from marketing and promotion and dropped all but one of my regular galleries/exhibition venues, and instead, took on a smaller number of larger, more involved projects created for a company, cause or institution.

Cuts were needed to free up some of those self inflicted pressures and demands placed on my time. All of that go go go seemed like a lot of unnecessary stress with out enough return. There are more important things in my “big picture”, like my family (and my sanity). But perhaps in the future, *some* downsizing could happen in the Caden department as well; I’m often told that too much time is devoted to my son’s art related projects, Birthday extravaganzas, Halloween costumes and miscellaneous events when he would be just as happy with something less involved. I guess he is getting older and more independent, so conceivably I could devote a bit more time to my own art :).

So now what will I do with all of this free time? Okay, so it’s not a lot more free time but hopefully I can get organized enough to dedicate myself to the painting series I’ve been dancing around the past year or so, entitled “The Legend of Hare Terra”. As many of you know, I’ve long been dreaming of creating a fairy tale series, either in the form of paintings, or something that combines writing, painting and sculpting. Except, up to this point, time constraints, outside distractions and various other obligations have continued to disrupt that plan. Let’s face it; I am my own worst enemy when it comes to taking on additional projects. But as 2011 nears, I’m feeling like maybe I will finally be able to FOCUS and make a true commitment to a more long term project. My big plan for 2011 is to *Just Work*, and see what evolves. However, before I can settle into “The Legend of Hare Terra”, I will need to finish up one last giant batch of work in progress; namely the 300 piece Exalted Beauty Empress Medallion collection! I have already invested over 400 hours into the Empress Medallions; so as tedious, time consuming and utterly boring as it will be to finish them, I know they will be worth it. With any luck, I will be able to begin the Hare paintings in mid to late February.

That's it for the year end review of 2010! Thank you so much for your interest, support and encouragement throughout the year. I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you! I hope that you will continue to join me as I chronicle this next phase of my journey through the Exalted Beauty Empress collection and then onto the land of “Hare Terra” in 2011!

I wish you great joy and success in 2011; may all of your hopes, dreams and ambitions for the New Year come true!
Have a wonderful, happy, healthy New Year!
